Prep Newsletter Michaelmas Term Week 13

This week’s newsletter for Rossall Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School.

Dear All,

As the festivities finally take a pause before the big day, I would like to thank you all for your support over what has been a hectic final couple of weeks. The array of events that have taken place alongside the children still completing their learning has truly been something to behold!

It was wonderful to see the children deliver their performances with such confidence during the concert. Well done to everyone who took part and I hope that you are able to watch some of the movies that our children performed scenes from!

I am delighted to announce that we have raised well in excess of £2000 for Brian House from our various festive endeavours. Thank you to all of the parents and members of our generous community who have dug deep to ensure that we can support children and families who unfortunately have to use the services offered by the charity.

The pantomime was once again a wonderful experience for the children. As Mrs Trippier wrote in her newsletter last week, it is so important for the children to experience live performances and they most certainly enjoyed this one!

The Christmas parties were a huge success and I was incredibly proud of the School Council for the way in which they organised and delivered traditional parties that the children thoroughly enjoyed. One or two of the adults did too!

Our final event of the year, the Prep Christmas Carol Service was incredibly well attended and served as a fitting finale to the festivities. My sincere thanks to Reverend Ayoma, who once again presided over our traditional service. I say traditional, but it is fair to say that I do not recall any grumpy sheep in the original nativity story!

It falls to me to wish all of you a wonderful and relaxing Christmas break. Whatever you may be doing, wherever you may be going, the warm embrace of the Rossall community is always with you and I look forward to seeing everyone as we begin term on 8th January!

All best wishes

Mr M Turner

Headmaster of Preparatory School & Nursery

School Council Christmas Parties

As has become tradition, the Prep School Council have worked hard to plan and organise the end of term Christmas Parties! These took place on Monday in Pre-Prep and in the Performing Arts Studio. The children had a wonderful time dancing to classic Christmas tunes, playing party games, dressing up for our ‘Photo Booth’, decorating Christmas cookies and creating some festive crafts. All the pupils were dressed in their Christmas jumpers, and enjoyed a fabulous celebration, well-earned after all their hard work. Thank you and well done to the Prep School Council for organising such a fun and festive event!

Prep Christmas Parties

‘Christmas at the Movies’ is a Box Office Hit!

Our premiere of ‘Christmas at the Movies’ was a box office hit, and our parents, grandparents and friends were treated to a festival of performing arts by the Prep School children.

Dazzling performances from ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘The Polar Express’, ‘Nativity’ and ‘Home Alone’ by Years 3-6 respectively were supported admirably by the angelic voices of the Chapel Choir, the melodic tones of the Brass Ensemble, and the tuneful toot of Huxley’s trumpet.

With Year 6 leading the school with lively renditions of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’, our concert was a magical blend of traditional tunes and festive fun. The children loved the excitement of performing on the stage, and it was the perfect finale to bring our Rossall community together.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Prep Pantomime

What did Prince Charming say when he placed Cinderella’s glass slipper on her foot?

“You’re my sole mate!”

Oh no he didn’t…

Hold onto your glass slippers because Big School was recently turned into a magical kingdom for the Prep School! The pantomime performance of Cinderella was a riot of laughter, music and fun.

From the moment the curtain went up, the audience was in stitches. Cinderella danced through the stage with a twinkle in her eye and a shoe in hand, ready to find her Prince Charming. The Wicked Stepmother was so hilariously wicked that she almost stole the spotlight (and Cinderella’s shoes)!

But fear not, the Fairy Godmother was on hand to save the day with a sprinkle of magic and a dash of humour. The transformation scene was powered by dancing students and nothing short of a disco extravaganza!

Teachers and pupils alike revelled in the joyous atmosphere, and it was heartwarming to see the Prep School come together for an afternoon of pure entertainment just before the Christmas break. Laughter filled the air, and the excitement was palpable.

Christmas Lunch

.

One of our favourite Rossall Christmas traditions is Christmas Lunch! We had a fantastic time in Dining Hall eating the scrumptious food Mr Fletcher and the Catering Team had prepared for us.

Nursery Festivities

We have had a wonderful, festive week in the Nursery! The children have enjoyed a Christmas dinner, Christmas Jumper Day and a visit from jolly Father Christmas. The children across all rooms have been creative with their take on Christmas crafting and they have lots of goodies to share with their families.

Finally, a week in Nursery would not be complete without songs and stories. The favourite songs this week have been ‘10 Little Elves’ and ‘Christmas Pudding’. It has been wonderful to see the looks on the children’s faces as they took part in all of the amazing activities as the week has progressed.

On behalf of all the staff at Rossall Nursery: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

End of Term Assembly

Well done to everyone who received a certificate in our End of Term Assembly. All awards were so well deserved, and we are very proud of all pupils for their contributions this term.
