Sixth Form Admissions

Students choose Rossall for their Sixth Form education because they want to have the best opportunity to secure their first choice destination; whether that is university in the UK or any number of other paths open to them.

A Sixth Form education at Rossall is designed to stimulate and challenge in equal measure. We want our Sixth Formers to be intellectually curious, to articulate and defend their opinions, and to work both collaboratively and independently.

We also want our Sixth Formers to establish great learning and social habits, which they will take forward for the rest of their lives:

  • Independent study skills
  • Engagement with healthy pursuits
  • Lifelong love of learning
  • Making social connections

All candidates seeking entry to Rossall Sixth Form will be required to pass at least five GCSE/iGCSE subjects (Grades 5-9) (or equivalent qualifications from the student’s own country) as well as provide a satisfactory report from their current school.
Please note: In order to study certain subjects, candidates will need to have achieved at least a Grade 6 or 7 in that subject (or related discipline) at GCSE/iGCSE.

Step 4 – Assessments & scholarships

Scholarships are awards based on merit/excellence in the fields of academics, sport, music, art and performing arts/drama.

Scholarships are reviewed annually in light of a student’s achievement, effort, attitude and behaviour.

All candidates who have applied for a Sixth Form Scholarship will be required to sit two papers: a discursive/argumentative essay paper and a critical thinking paper. They will be interviewed by the Headmaster and/or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Scholarship application deadlines are at the end of the Michaelmas Term the year preceding entry.

Students and their Families will be notified if an award is forthcoming soon after all the assessments and interviews have been completed.

Visit our scholarships page for more information.

Step 5 - Enjoy a taster day

So you have had a visit, you have met key staff, but want to know more? A taster day gives you the opportunity to see what you think of Rossall.

If you would like to book a taster day (this does not incur any cost), please contact our Admissions Team.

Step 6 - Offer & acceptance of a place

Providing we have the space and capacity to accept you, we will let you know as soon as possible if the application has been successful.

Upon confirmation of acceptance – this includes a deposit of either £500 (UK student) or £2,500 (Overseas student), we will send you a welcome information pack which will have all the information you require, from the shape of the day to what uniform you need to purchase.

There will also be a number of forms that you will need to complete and send back to us.
