As learners within our Preparatory School, our children are encouraged to take risks, safe in the knowledge that, in terms of learning, mastery often emerges from the mistakes that we make. Teaching takes place within an environment which is calm and children grow in confidence because we encourage them to adopt a growth mindset from the very beginning. We celebrate their successes and help them to take pride in all that they achieve.
In Reception, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) programme. Our staff develop early learning goals for each pupil within a dynamic and stimulating environment and there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor experiences, as these serve to further enhance learning.
From the age of five upwards, the Rossall Prep Curriculum serves to support the continuing development of independent learning skills whilst engendering curiosity and creativity. Alongside this is a focus upon subject specific rigour. The Prep curriculum offers all pupils the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding. In doing so, it provides a secure foundation for success within our Prep School, Senior School and beyond.
Our inspiring and exciting curriculum covers the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. The subjects of History, Geography, Religious Education, Design Technology, Art, Computing, Music and Physical Education are delivered through an engaging approach which is often interdisciplinary and project-based. Personal, Social and Health Education is also taught throughout all sections of the School and this complements our outstanding pastoral care. All of this is supplemented by plenty of Games and Swimming lessons which ensures a genuine all-round education.
Our vast campus and brilliantly diverse offering of subjects also includes introductions to cooking, golf, beach school, forest schools, farming and even astronomy.
