Rossall offers a fantastic Summer School programme starting on Monday 11th July 2022. The Summer School is open to pupils aged 12 – 17 from around the globe and is set on our stunning coastal campus. Pupils can choose to stay for one week or several.
Rossall Summer School is an intensive language programme that has been combined with an exciting range of activities, specialised skills masterclasses and plenty of opportunities for memorable cultural experiences.
Careful consideration is given to ensure that all communication during the students’ time here at Rossall Summer School is in English. With this in mind, we try our best, where possible, to recruit a good balance of nationalities to our Summer School.
Our international students will also have the opportunity to mix with English students at meal times and during afternoon and evening activities on the weeks when our UK residential and non-residential courses are running.
We offer students the opportunity to choose from fourteen different specialised skills weeks (two per week, alongside English tuition). Those who decide not to choose a specialised skill can enjoy a fun packed programme of creative activities and sports.
Rossall Summer School utilises the school’s extensive facilities, allowing us to offer a varied programme to suit everyone.
We now accept pupils from the age of seven on our Junior Summer School Programme. For more information please see the dedicated Junior section towards the end of this brochure.
Additionally, for 2022, we are organising whole weekend trips to London and Edinburgh for pupils to explore these two capital cities in depth.
The Senior Programme is open to children aged 12-17.
There is no limit to the length of time students can stay. However, we do insist on a minimum stay of two weeks.
We also recommend that any current or prospective students wishing to join us at Rossall School in September, should enrol on the last two weeks of the summer programme. This will help the student with their English Language skills in preparation for the start of term. It will also help them get to know the campus and facilities, and ensure a smooth transition into the main school system.
Our class sizes will never exceed ten students per class with the exception of our student-centred project lessons, where the emphasis is on group work with the opportunity to present their project work to all of the students at the end of the week. On arrival, students will sit a short English test to determine their ability level.
Students will then be allocated to a class according to age and language ability.
Each student will receive 20 hours of English as an Additional Language tuition per week from fully qualified (EAL) teachers.
By the end of their stay at Rossall Summer School the students will have:
Students who stay with us for three or more weeks will receive an English language certificate.
Option 1 – English with 2 hours of specialised skills per day – £1,255.00
Option 2 – English with activities – £1,150.00
Our specialised skills weeks have been designed to allow students to focus on a specific activity, alongside their studies, during their time here at Rossall School.
Whether the student is a beginner or highly experienced in the chosen skill area, our specialised skills weeks provide an opportunity to benefit from an intensive teaching/ coaching programme. With delivery from professionals in each field, all students will leave Rossall School with a new or improved skill, as well as improving their English Language abilities.

SAMPLE ACTIVITY PROGRAMME
We have an exciting and diverse range of excursions as part of the Summer School package. As well as providing a great day out, they will broaden the students’ cultural, historical and geographical understanding of the United Kingdom, and they are a great opportunity to try out the English language skills they will have learnt.
Travel, food and group activities are included in the course fees. Additional drinks, refreshments, souvenirs and personal shopping are extra and should be paid for by the student.
We offer the following excursions* at Rossall Summer School:
MANCHESTER
A city alive with character, Manchester is rich in art and heritage, and as proud of its music scene as it is of its world-famous football teams.
YORK
A place of extraordinary cultural and historical wealth, York is a beautifully preserved medieval city.
LIVERPOOL
The city that gave us The Beatles, Liverpool has moved on from its industrial roots to become one of Britain’s most dynamic and vibrant cultural centres.
CHESTER
Encircled by a glorious 2-mile ring of Roman and medieval walls, Chester is a rare blend of the ancient and traditional along with a dash of cosmopolitan chic.
LAKE DISTRICT
Students will visit the stunning Lake District twice during their stay.
