On Wednesday, we welcomed schools from across the Fylde Coast to Rossall for the annual Wyre and Fylde Rounders Tournament for U13 and U15 girls.
Our U13 girls’ team won all of their matches in the preliminary round and entered the semi-finals in high spirits. Unfortunately, a strong Baines team thwarted our girls from advancing to the final. However, this was a fantastic team performance and all girls should be very proud of themselves.
The U15 girls’ team had a storming result, winning all but one of their matches. The final saw them against Baines, with Rossall choosing to field first. Baines batted well and scored a respectable 5 rounders, however, some excellent fielding from Rossall minimised their scoring opportunities.
It was then Rossall’s turn to bat and the girls knew what they had to do to win. The tension the spectators were feeling soon faded away when the girls started to rack up the rounders! Rounder after rounder came and the girls found themselves victorious by an incredible 17 rounders to Baines’s 5. What a fantastic finale!
