Local Blackpool Opera singer and Rossall School alumni, Lewis Raines (28), has seen his dream of becoming a mainstream opera singer come true, as he joins the original X Factor stars and multi-platinum selling vocal harmony group, G4. Lewis will be coming home when he performs with them in Blackpool this December but must first embark on his debut ‘G4 Live’ tour which begins with the first of 19 UK dates on 1st September, in Skegness.
After an extensive nationwide search, Lewis was selected to join G4 after original band member, Ben, stepped aside to pursue his solo opera career. Lewis couldn’t be happier with this exciting opportunity, commenting:
“I have always been a huge admirer of G4 since they first appeared in our living rooms, on our TV screens. I can remember watching them live on their first UK tour when they came to the Winter Gardens in my hometown of Blackpool. They have been one of the driving forces that inspired me to study classical voice in London, at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance. Now that I can say that I’m the new member of G4, it fills me with great excitement, and I am thrilled to start working with Jonathan, Mike & Nick on the upcoming UK tour.
I would also like to wish Ben the very best for the future and for all his upcoming concerts and performances with the Welsh National Opera. He is a hard act to follow but I will endeavour to uphold the standard and legacy he has left to G4.”
With his heart still firmly in Blackpool, Lewis is particularly excited about returning to his hometown, when G4 are set to perform at the magnificent Blackpool Tower Ballroom, on Tuesday 4th December, as part of the ‘G4 Christmas’ tour. With a series of 24 shows in beautiful cathedrals nationwide, these intimate performances see Jonathan, Mike, Nick and Lewis recall the musical experiences of their childhoods. You can expect to hear timeless classics such as When A Child is Born, Silent Night and All I Want For Christmas, as well as delightful medleys to evoke the Christmas spirit, all delivered up-close and personal in some of the UK’s most iconic historical venues.
G4 exploded into the industry and the public’s hearts back in 2004 on the first series of the X-Factor. They continue to blow people away, year after year, with their unique style and impactful harmonic vocals, which are incomparable to any other. They have to be heard live to truly appreciate the power and passion of their voices!
Having recently made their debut in Asia, and after countless UK tours since they first formed, G4 are delighted to have more tour dates than ever in 2018 and this is set to be their best show yet.
