With Love From Chapel - Lent Term - Week 9

“I made you wonderful!”

That is this year’s theme for the World Day of Prayer, which we celebrated in chapel last week, just before International Women’s Day at the weekend.

World Day of Prayer is a wonderful international and ecumenical event, which enables us all to hear the thoughts of women from across the world, including their hopes, concerns and prayers. It is also a call to action for global peace and justice - starting with the girls and women in our own school.

In a tradition that goes back to the 19th century and includes 191 countries, every first Friday in March a huge wave of prayer goes along the international dateline. Early in the morning Christian women begin praying for our world. As the earth rotates, the great wave begins to build.

“I made you wonderful!”

That is also God’s message to everyone on earth - every single part of his creation has been made wonderfully and beautifully.

In chapel, lots of young ladies helped us celebrate this theme. With music and readings around this theme - and even with live-art from two of our Year 12 art students, they brought a little bit of this special day to all the other students. And at the end, they handed out bookmarks to allow everyone present to remember that we are wonderfully made.

“I made you wonderful!”

It is worth remembering that God crafted you, too, carefully and beautifully and that you are truly wonderful!
