With Love From Chapel - Lent Term - Week 12
80 million!
That is the number of Easter eggs sold every single year in the UK.
80 million Easter eggs, which translates to almost 29,000,000kg of chocolate.
That is a lot of chocolate.
I have to admit that I will be personally responsible for a significant amount of that chocolate, but I console myself with the fact that these eggs are ‘hunted’ for inside and outside, which might make it a little more acceptable.
Easter is an amazing holiday: Spring has sprung, summer is on the horizon, and flowers and trees are blooming everywhere. We can literally see joy and ‘new life’ all around us - and, of course, it is a time when we can legitimately eat lots of chocolate eggs.
Easter is even more amazing because it is about the ‘new life’ Jesus opened up for us when he stepped out of his grave nearly 2000 years ago.
Easter is the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection - him overcoming death and opening up the path to heaven, paving it for our own eternal life. And while that might seem far off for many of us, it is the most amazing assurance from God that He is welcoming us into His heaven to a totally ‘new life’ in Him. There is no better or more joyful news all year than that.
It is important to spread this amazing news.
And what better way to do that than by handing out an Easter egg or two?
Have a fantastic holiday and a very happy Easter!
