Latin trip - Thishani and Yesenia y12
On Wednesday 12th February, we went on a Classics Department trip to London. We set off early in the morning, taking a relatively short train journey into the city. When we arrived, we walked over to the British Museum, taking in the sights of the city along the way. Inside, we explored a variety of different exhibits and had the opportunity to see many remarkable ancient artefacts such as the Rosetta Stone, Parthenon Marbles and Egyptian mummies.
In the afternoon we watched a matinee performance of Oedipus, starring Rami Malek and Indira Varma, at the Old Vic Theatre, in London. The striking choreography and music by Hofesh Schechter created a visually sensational experience that kept us as the audience on the edge of our seats. Overall, the stellar performances of the award-winning cast and the innovative staging made the play an unforgettable experience. We then went to the ‘Seven Dials Market’, where the air was filled with aromas from the various shops. It was one-of-a-kind where there were vendors selling food from all over the world. It wasn't just a place to eat, but also it had a pleasant atmosphere as a socialising place, with an interesting choice of music in the background.
