IB Results Day 2024
Imagine taking all your final school examinations in your second or third language and still coming out with the equivalent of A*A*A...that's what hard work and outstanding teaching brings you at Rossall!
Another impressive cohort of IB students at Rossall School are celebrating today their individual and collective successes.
With a 100% pass rate and a sustained 34-point average, IB Rossallians are now on their way to pursuing a wide variety of inspiring pathways at some of the most competitive courses in the UK and abroad.
Indeed, just under half the cohort hold the equivalent of A*A*A at A-level in terms of UCAS points and an outstanding 80% of the cohort are the proud recipients of the coveted bilingual diploma, well known to distinguish candidates at university and in the competitive employment market. The fact that students achieve so highly whilst studying entirely in their second or even third language is a testament to their hard work and the relentless dedication of their teachers to help them achieve their best.
A number of students achieved an impressive clean sweep of 6s and 7s across their HL subjects (the equivalent of As and A*) alongside three further SL subjects, an Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge course. Amongst them, Lucia achieved 42 points and is heading off to King's College London to study English Law and German Law and Ana Paula who elected to study 4 Higher Level subjects will be going to Manchester to study Medicine.
“I’m extremely proud of myself as I could succeed with my overall rather challenging subjects after staying in England for only two years. My results not only reflect the outcomes of consistency and ambition, but also the great support I received from teachers. Now I look forward to starting a new chapter in London leaving Rossall with great memories knowing that the IB Programme prepared me in the best possible way. ” - Lucia
Amongst the rest of this distinguished cohort, students will be taking up places at top institutions including Warwick, St Andrews, KCL and have earned prestigious scholarships at universities abroad, including IE Madrid. Anastasiia is one such student, her achievements are all the more impressive for the fact that she completed her studies and achieved 38 points against a backdrop of the ongoing Ukrainian conflict. Anastasiia is pursuing her dream to study International Relations having helped to organise Rossall’s first TEDx event, school MUN conference and having been heavily involved in humanitarian drives to raise money and send much-needed items to children and families trapped by the war.
We are incredibly proud of all of our IB students and would like to congratulate them on their impressive achievements. They have been fantastic role models, and, whether through sport, drama, music, as senior monitors or house monitors, have made a contribution that has positively impacted all at Rossall. We cannot wait to see the people they will become and the things they will achieve in the years to come.
About the IB diploma
The IB diploma programme, recognised and respected internationally, is underpinned by an intellectually rigorous curriculum, comprising six subjects, assessed both through internal assessment and examinations.
Achieving the IB diploma also requires a commitment to creativity, action and service as well the completion of an in-depth piece of research leading to the Extended Essay.
Globally, the programme is offered by over 3,000 top-performing schools and 180,000 candidates are entered for the diploma each year. The average score globally is 30.2 points out of a possible 45.
