Art and Design Update – Michaelmas Week 2

Lunchtime Photography Club

Lunchtime Photography Club started the term experimenting with ‘Macro’ techniques, together with some basic editing of colours.

Using natural forms of shells and skulls to photograph, pupils were able to create some wonderful semi-abstract images through unusual angles and cropping.

Take a look at some of the images we created below.

Year 13 Art

Year 13 students have produced some exceptional pieces of artwork, over the summer holidays. Their individual A level projects are related to various cultures, including those of Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. Students’ travels home and their family holidays have allowed them to conduct their own first hand research as a basis from which to work. This research and first hand images has inspired them to create these wonderful pieces.

Laurie has created an extremely accomplished drawing of a busy Hong King street scene drawn in pen. Ngan has chosen to concentrate on the portraits old farmers from Vietnam in charcoal, to capture their character. Ryan is working on his Japanese themed project, where he visited on holiday and is concentrating on the gardens and carvings of chrysanthemums, with research into their symbolic meaning.

We all look forward to these pieces forming the next A level exhibitions.

A Level Graphic Communication Exhibitions 2023

The exhibition of Graphics work was a testament to the dedication, commitment and creativity shown by students. Each exhibition showed a wide range of techniques and styles from students, as well as offering a glimpse into the diverse range of skills and interests of Year 13.

Congratulations to all of the students for their outstanding work!
